  • Ahhhh....

...what a wonderful afternoon...!!!  The sun shone beautiful all day yesterday!  Had a fun afternoon.....I mowed the yard for one of the last times this year....  Already looking forward to that job next summer!!!  The sun felt sooo good!  The sky was soo blue...in the morning the sky looked like 'Someone' glued a whole bag of cottonballs up there.  I had to be gone in the morning and 'til I got home the sky was beautiful blue....

(Matches our mailbox...---for those of you that are in the 'dark'  I have it painted 'New Holland' blue!)    I was merrily mowing...came across this..?????

    100_1175

Can anyone explain it???????    Mr. Jack Frost visited a few nights ago...He must have thot that since he couldn't stay very long he decided to have some fun while he was here and created a labyrinth for us..... It is real wierd!! There is one big patch like that....   Something else I discovered.... We don't need go to Egypt to see the pyrimids like some folks do....we had them in our front yard!!!!

    100_1176 100_1172

Miniature ones, but so what!!!    Some were better constructed than some....some looked like they needed some more time on the 'drawing board', Yet and still....they were all demolished in the end!!!      Trust me...you didn't want to be in the close proximity of one after I hit it with the mower!!!  After a rain, you can expect them to pop up over night!  Really!!!  They are industrious creatures!  But then the Bible tells us that!!    Proceeded with my project....over half done and noticed one of the 'wheel jobbies' on the front of the deck, --the pin that holds it on was working itself out.  I stopped out by the fence, thinking that I could find a wire to slip in it to temp. hold it on....was walking mebbie two yards from the mower...WHOA!!!!   I changed directions real fast and headed for the shed for my trusty hoe!!!

    100_1183

One whack took care of him.......   whew--satisfied release of breath and weak knees.....

    100_1186

You guessed right...see that eye???   Trust me...he was very dead when I took that picture!!!! (Didn't look like it tho...he turned around and bit himself!!)   Yes, its a Rattler, he one one small button on his tail, I left him keep it, didn't think it was worth chopping off.   I moved him to a spot on the concrete to take his picture....he wasn't real big...but big enough for my hoe to find!!  Oh I hate those slithery things......***shivers***  --I had my mind and eyes 'seeing' them the rest of the day...pretty much promised myself that I wasn't going barefooted outside again for awhile...those that know me, guess what!!   Ha!!  Already messed up that plan!!!!

    Hey I gotta run...  Hope everybody has a wonderful day.... ~ ~go kill a snake!!   ~ ~

  • What a week-end!!!

We were asked to help cook at the week-end Youth Retreat in Tn. last week. We had a great time cooking, serving and being with other people that love the Lord! We arrived in Tn. Wed afternoon

Going thru the 'gate' some cabins on the left,

    100_1075

the dining hall and kitchen on the right. Some of us cooks had rooms in this building too.

    100_1078

On up the hill was the main assembly hall. The young people all stayed in cabins behind the dining hall.  We got there, unpacked and prepared supper. After clean-up they had an 'Ice Breaker' project.  They were divided into groups, given ingredients for a cake.  They were to make the cake,--without a recipe-- bring it to the kitchen to bake. Then after it was cooled they were to decorate it with the icing provided, then they were judged. One recieved the honor of the nicest looking and another for taste.  The results were real interesting!! One really tasted like they had a recipe, others...well we will just say they were less than desirable! One of the judges said 'The icing on this one is good!'

Trying to decide how to do this....

    100_1041

    Given the 'Go' signal....

    100_1044 100_1045

This cake won the taste test...

    100_1052

They were making a flower..oopps but no green icing, so they picked out the green coated sugar thingys to put on the stem.

    100_1055

This cake won the 'best looking' test...

One of the session in the assembly hall.  Mr. Pat and the class with the chinese fire drills...should have gotten a pic. of that!!

    100_1108

Sat. nite before 'lights out' there was an ice cream party...

    100_1122

This poor guy sprained his ankle/foot one of the first games of VB.... We all pitied him!!!

    100_1123

Headed home....the trees were just beginning to change colors.   We had a wonderful week-end!  Thanks to all of you for your help!!!  We really enjoyed being there!!!

Hey! Your new dining room looks great! I bet you really enjoyed it over the weekend. Glad you are feeling better! I sure hated to mess all the special meetings, but when I heard the flu was there, I did not mind so much!! I did not feel good on Sunday and part of Monday, but it was only a bad gut ac
